REVIEW: Toru Ikemoto presents From Violet EP (Different Sound)

Toru Ikemoto returns and does it on the Different Sound label. Based in Japan and keeping the underground culture alive, he is now back with "From Violet", a 6-track fusion of minimalist and rush hour sounds.

Toru Ikemoto has been developing a name with music that spans multiple genres for some time. Diversity in music is at the core of it. Toru Ikemoto's sound has a common characteristic recognized by recurring themes; the nostalgia, the melody and the cosmic depth, that drags you, but without losing energy.

"From Violet", released on Different Sound, sums up this producer's sound, and does it with elegance. Ikemoto creates music that works in all settings and transcends genres. His openness to a wide range of sounds is what has made them both a much-loved favourite, but also someone who operates in his own parallel musical world. He collaborates with Teno, DJ Hi-C & ASTRYD, endowing a deep and visceral set as well as powerful and magnetic. He traps you like sweet poison until you can't escape.

To achieve simplicity and lucidity, paradoxically, experience and the ability to know how to free oneself from the limitation of conditioning are required, and this "From Violet" is a healthy example of it.
