LIGHTS OUT, BERLIN! is a music documentary about the effects of the covid-19 pandemic on the Berlin music and club scene. The film shows a 360º vision of the economic, psychological and social impact that COVID-19 is having on the "clubbing" culture in Berlin. The distancing of the dance floors dates back to the beginning of the appearance of the virus with the first indications and the resulting interruption.
Berlin has always been a lively and colorful city. A city that was full of inspiring places, artistic opportunities and a lively nightlife. A city with an enormous cultural baggage that is now on hold.
The film explores how the pandemic has affected the lives, mindsets and businesses of artists, cultural venues and entrepreneurs in the music business in the German capital. From new talents to established icons around the world.
What was your life like before the pandemic? What did they do during the lockdown? How did they adapt to the new circumstances? What are your plans for the future? What are you doing to overcome the current situation?
In the film they interview some of Berlin's most prominent and up-and-coming artists, musicians and entrepreneurs. They follow their life, their day to day and their stories in a city without concerts, DJ sets or shows, showing what their day to day was like before the pandemic and how they adapted to the current situation. What did you learn from this unique period and how did you have to go beyond your comfort zone to get through this change?
We don't know what the future holds, but we do know that this documentary is testimony to a turbulent and uncertain present, which will remain in our memories forever.
