Fur Coat & Olivier Giacomotto join forces once more with two-tracker ‘Gone’, a New Year’s gift for the legions of fans of ‘The Wall In The Mirror’, their 2024 debut both as collab partners and on Adam Beyer’s Truesoul.
Venezuelan producer and melodic techno talent Fur Coat first hosted French techno multi-genre maestro Giacomotto on his label Øddity in 2023, leading to their collab releases both on Truesoul and also on Watergate. Now they bring the distillation of their unique gifts and skills back to the revered Swedish producer’s junior imprint with ‘Gone’.
‘Gone’: a resonant sound throughout, from the bounce of the drum beat with breaksy flourishes, to the bongo-esque bass riff, melodic synth notes and bubbling high motif with doppler swoops, and the spoken vocal gradually emerging to dominate the breakdown. Upbeat and full of controlled energy.
‘Lifter’: Heavy beats and a strong futuristic vibe, with dystopian hoover hissings, industrial stabs and doppler sirens matched by the heavily processed vocal acting more as a melodic synth, balancing the more machine-like sounds with a hint of Middle Eastern flavour. A massive breakdown allows rattling drums to let loose and urgent dark sounds to build to a mighty drop. An intriguing cinematic soundscape with dancefloor potential to spare.
