Boom Merchant presents Shifting Sands

Boom Merchant drops an unfaltering techno EP via Red Eclipse, which features two of his original tracks.

Red Eclipse is a sister imprint to the Berlin based record label, Eclipse Recordings, and it's a respected outlet for underground techno with peak time energy.

This release has the gritty percussion and hypnotic rhythms that are trademark to Boom Merchant's style. He is an Irish artist currently based in Mexico, and he has a global fanbase, leading to international DJ gigs across the world.

Much of Boom Merchant's music comes via his own record label, Tribal Pulse, but he has also featured his intoxicating style on other respected imprints ranging from Sisko Electrofanatik's Gain to T78's Autektone.

"Shifting Sands" is the EP's title track, and it has a grinding bassline and dramatic synth stabs intertwining with swirling drum rhythms. Vocal bursts provide the track's main focal point, and the breakdown is marked by a deep pad that builds suspense before the kick drum hammers back in.

"Backburner" is the deeper of the two tracks, but it still packs a punch with congas and fizzing hi-hats augmenting a pounding kick drum. Soulful vocal textures contrast with ominous atmospherics that crate gripping tension.
